As the main sports venue in Hong Kong, Hong Kong Stadium is home to international football matches, the Hong Kong Sevens Rugby Tournament and Rugby World Cup events. It can host 40,000 spectators and is home to the Hong Kong national football team and Hong Kong Pegasus. The pitch is multi-purpose and high use, in a region that experiences flooding rain and high temperatures. Following criticism of the existing pitch and to meet this demanding requirement, Hong Kong Stadium installed a complete StrathAyr system installation with over 7,000 metres of turf in 2015. The pitch is now world class and ideal for international matches.
