The Elwick racetrack is one of Australias original premier thoroughbred tracks and has recently been rebuilt as a StrathAyr Track. Even though Hobart does not have a high rainfall, the many other advantages of a StrathAyr Track have already been clearly demonstrated, including the ability to perform magnificently very soon after completion and still be very
kind to the horses.

Being constructed “on time and under budget” the
track opened to wide acclaim in January 2020 with the Hobart Derby followed soon after by a hugely successful Hobart Cup.
