The Hong Kong Jockey Club pioneered the all-weather natural turf track concept in 1988 when the Happy Valley Racetrack was reconstructed. The Sha Tin track reconstruction of 1990 also incorporated mesh elements.

The Hong Kong Jockey Club tracks continue to provide an intensive schedule of safe, all-weather usage after 30 years of racing.
